“I lost my teeth one by one”

I began to lose my teeth when I was quite young. I was born in Ireland where the lime in the water and the sweets I ate meant that my teeth had already begun to decay. I was 16 years old when I came to England. They didn’t offer caps back then and I had several fillings but they didn’t really help. My teeth only got worse and I had a lot of pain from the nerves in my teeth. After several extractions, I decided the best thing was to remove the remaining teeth. By the time I was 58, I’d lost all of my natural teeth.

“I wanted to hide my smile”

My first dentures were made quickly and they didn’t look natural. I wanted to hide my smile. Since then, I’ve tried different dentures but they didn’t always look nice.
