“I didn’t even think about losing all of my teeth because there were more important things”

My father had terrible teeth so my tooth loss was partially hereditary. By my late 20s, I had begun to wear partial dentures, which involved grinding down several of my healthy teeth to attach a bridge. Because of this procedure, many of my remaining healthy teeth began to decay. This meant that I needed further extractions and more bridges to replace them. In the 2000s, I was involved in two car accidents which knocked out all of my remaining teeth and completely snapped the bridges. In the first accident I lost my wife and in the second I lost my spleen – so at the time, I didn’t even think about losing my teeth because there were more important things.
